This copy has been inscribed by Dean to Arthur: "May you have fair skies, smooth sailing, and seas not too rough. Bill" William Dean was a WWII Navy fighter pilot and double Ace with a total of eleven airborne planes destroyed. As commander of VF-2 members of his command shot down 261 enemy aircraft. Capt. Dean was awarded two Navy Crosses, the Bronze Star, five Distinguished Flying Crosses and 12 Air Medals.
This book is also inscribed on the dedication page: "My best wishes and kindest regards to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carlson - "Mom" Chung." The dedicatee was likely related to Ensign H.L. Carlson of Chicago, IL who was killed in the line of duty. vg+ with minimal wear. Item #17515
