William Alfred Bayly was convicted of murdering his cousin and her wife and subsequently hanged. The book was presented to John Murdock, head of a crime lab in California by a compatriot in New Zealand in 2003. A gift inscription in pencil is found on the free endpaper. Three former owner's names in ink are also printed on the endpapers. Fair / good with significant wear to spine as shown. Sewn binding is solid. Wear to back cover. Slight foxing.
