Scarce book of military cartonos featuring Eggburt, which origially appeared in the Monthly Newsletter From the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts of the Navy. Drawn by Commander Earle D. Chesney, SC USNR, Eggburt caricatures common derilictions of junior naval officers. The admonishing verses, deploring Eggburt's conduct, were written by Lt. Commander F. Lowell Lawrance, SC USNR. Original print appearance of Eggbert was in 1942. This is the first anthology of Chesney's work and first appearance of Eggburt in book form. Approximately 1/3 of the book is Eggburt cartoons, and the balance are a variety of other Chesney military cartoons. No date or other publication information other than what appears on the cover. This appears to have been reprinted in 1945 with the title Eggburt and Other Navy Cartoons (Anderson House). This edition likely dates from 1943 or 1944. This copy is inscribed by the artist to RE Admiral H. D. Nuber USN. vg/vg+, front cover holes are slightly enlarged allowing front cover to come loose from brads. Item #19430
